Weekend workshop at YOGAVILLE
Friday-Sunday, March 23, 24, 25
Nourishing our whole being with Akke Hulburt and Nancy Jurek
$270 if paid in full by March 1, $285 after that date. Includes all vegetarian meals, lodging, classes and workshops.
I have rented the Lotus Conference Center at Yogaville in Buckingham County, VA for the weekend of March 23-25 for a private yoga retreat. Lotus Conference Center (LCC) will be our home away from home for the weekend. LCC is about a mile away from the main Yogaville campus. It houses 24 people in a dormitory style building overlooking the James River and the beautiful LOTUS meditation hall.
There are four 2-hour workshops scheduled on nurturing wellness for our whole being: Friday evening from 7:30-9:30, Saturday morning from 9:30-11:30, Saturday afternoon from 3:00-5:00 and Sunday morning from 9:30-11:30.
In addition to the workshops you can participate in a multi-level hatha yoga class from 7:00- 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings that Nancy Jurek or I will teach. You will be able to go to the LOTUS meditation hall and join the residents of Yogaville for their noon-time meditation as well as attend their Saturday evening Satsang.
Friday dinner, Saturday, breakfast, lunch and dinner and Sunday breakfast and lunch are included. Lunch and dinner will be served at the main Yogaville campus and breakfasts will be at ‘home’ at LCC.

Yoga Books/Music
The Sivananda Companion to YOGA
A complete guide to the physical postures, breathing exercises, diet, relaxation and meditation techniques of Yoga.
This book gives you some of the history and philosophy of yoga as well as a detailed outline for learning the asanas (poses) and organizing a practice routine. It also has a section for pregnancy, the young and elderly. The illustrations are inspiring and beautiful.
Hatha Yoga: The Hidden Language
Symbols, Secrets and Metaphor by Swami Sivananda Radha
A book of Yoga psychology that guides us in going deeper into the mind/body/spirit interconnection during asana practice. Beautiful insights into the Sanskrit meanings of the key asanas and other symbolic and metaphoric ways of experiencing them on a different level of inner-meaning and intensity. Incredible food for contemplation and transformation. A fascinating practice and read!
Ashtanga Yoga: The Practice Manual by David Swenson
Illustrated, spiral-bound guide to both primary and intermediate series and includes three illustrated short forms at the end of the book.
I find this guide accessible and well-detailed, and the practice it teaches challenging in the best ways possible. It is very helpful, however, that you already have an established practice and maintain a sharp awareness of what your body's limitations and edges might be so as to not incur any injury for this more strength-focused practice.
Yoga, The Iyengar Way: The New Definitive Illustrated Guide by Silva, Mira, and Shyam Mehta
An excellent Yoga practice guide to have in your library. Detailed instruction on getting safely into and out of the asanas, plus ways of working in the pose and how to integrate simple props for better support.
Full color photographs beautifully show the body's form while in the asanas and while moving into the different poses.
Here are Andy Matzner's CD recommendations for sound healing:
The Golden Bowls of Compassion, by Karma Moffett
Nada Himalaya (1 and/or 2), by Deuter
Seven Metals: Singing Bowls of Tibet, by Benjamin Iobst
Ultimate Ohm, Jonathan Goldman
Majesty, by Aeoliah
Reiki: Hands of Light, by Deuter
